The Elegant School of Modern Dance offers a variety of classes for all ages and various levels in modern, ballet, jazz and modern/lyrical. We will provide quality and knowledgeable service to our customers and introduce the cultural art of dance to the community.

Our chosen technique of modern dance will be a combination of Graham, Limone’ and Horton. Part of our curriculum involves taking the technique classes of modern and ballet and transforming the student bodies into dancers. The jazz/hip-hop class is offered to students who would like to experience a jazzy style of dance while modern/lyrical is for students interested in learning different styles of choreography with all types of music at different levels of rhythms.

The owners Shawna Hall and Kimberly Trimingham have been long time friends since the sixth grade. Both grew up in Staten Island, New York. Shawna shared her love of dance with Kimberly and Kimberly shared her passion for fashion design with Shawna. They would sometimes visit each other in college just to see what was being introduced in various courses offered for their majors. Besides just hanging out with their other life long buddy Erika Durham. They both had dreams that they were striving for. Shawna and Kimberly would put their dreams on hold, to get married and raise their children. So, when Kimberly went to Shawna with her proposal of opening up a dance studio together, Shawna “of course” thought the idea of finally getting to share her gift of dance with others was spectacular!

Shawna and Kimberly bring The Elegant School of Modern Dance to the greater Fort Lauderdale area. So, they may introduce to the public a “Different way of Thinking” and experiencing dance. “If we can lift just one person’s spirit by walking through our studio doors, then our dreams have come to fruition.”
